As you might know, I’d love to travel whenever it’s possible. This time my boyfriend and I went to beautiful Bruges. It was the first time we went there, on a recommendation of my friends. From Amsterdam, we drove there in almost three hours. As we didn’t know what to expect we drove through the city first. Then we found a parking garage in the middle of all the highlights named ‘t Pantrijtje’. And after a few hours, we only had to pay six euros!
Bruges is the main capital of the province West-Vlaanderen. During the first and second world war, a large part of Bruges has been spared. You can see many historical buildings, squares, bridges, streets and monuments preserved. The variety of houses and beautiful architecture got me back in time. So if you want to go somewhere for a romantic day with your love this is definitely an admirable recommendation.
“As if Romeo could appear any second and I was Juliet”
I think one of the highlights in Bruges is the Sint-Salvators cathedral. Unfortunately outside there was a lot of renovation, so we couldn’t catch the beautiful exterior for you! Inside there was a lot going on too, but I’ve captured the outstanding stained glass and ceilings. Although, I loved it anyway!
For the lovers of shopping, even on Sunday some stores were open and there was a cute little vintage market. Starting my trip in Bruges I’ve learned that this city has no less than fifty chocolatiers. Who still use the traditional methods of making their chocolates and chocolate creations. Furthermore, Bruges has more than hundred chocolate boutiques. We decided to take some ‘Pierre Marcolini’ bonbons for my boyfriend mothers birthday. She told us they tasted so delicious!
“No wonder that Belgium is famous for their ‘Belgium chocolates’ “
Before we finished our short day city trip we had a walk over de bridges and trough the park. Luckily for us, there was so much green everywhere. I would love to go back to Bruges in autumn. To see all the green leaves turn into red and mother nature will change up in a portrait of colors.
